Teaching Philosophy
I subscribe to Dr. Shinichi Suzuki’s philosophy that every student can learn, and that one must create a positive environment where all students can feel free to make mistakes. Every day I remind my students of this in one way or another, especially when they become frustrated, explaining that the best musical experiences emerge from thorough preparation and creative freedom. I support consistent practice habits by sharing enjoyable and simple practice methods.
Everyone can experience joy in musical expression, and I expect each student to become a thoughtful, expressive, and independent musician.
Lesson Schedule
Tuition includes 40 lessons per calendar year, recitals (excluding any accompanist fees), master classes, and optional participation in Music Federation. It is is evenly divided by 12 months and due at the beginning of each month.
I know that the most joy in my life has come to me from my violin.
-Albert Einstein

"Micah is an excellent teacher and musician. He is organized and reliable, and often goes beyond what is expected of him. He was...always there for the kids, demanding yet caring...always able to develop a positive relationship with the students, give them correct information, and motivate them to achieve the goals he sets."
- Brenda Brenner, former president of the American
String Teachers Assoc.
"I would like to thank you for being an amazing teacher...I really want you to know that I used to think I could never play such complex songs or do 15 notes in one bow. My parents and I both feel that I have learned and become much better at playing...You are the best teacher I have ever had and I feel I have grown the most from you."
- Elisa, former student
"You have a good way with such [a] young student, patient, kind, serious yet right at his level so that your lessons hold his attention--and we can see that they have effect--he has learned so much from you!"
- Cynthia, mother of student
